It could also be the line you're on, if you're trying to go WOT before unwinding the wheel and you're right near the limit. They might be taking a later apex and straightening out sooner.
How loose is the rear getting? Is it just rotating a bit under power, or is it actually stepping way out?
R888's and RA1's are no grippier than RS3's, and R888's heat cycle out WAY faster (typically long before the tread is gone).
If you want a fast R compound with tread, get the Hankook TD's.

Am I missing something? I can't seem to find those even on Hankook's website. I see them on the international site but not the US site. TR doesn't appear to carry them either
Also they don't come in the size I need! Argggggg.
