It could also be the line you're on, if you're trying to go WOT before unwinding the wheel and you're right near the limit. They might be taking a later apex and straightening out sooner.
How loose is the rear getting? Is it just rotating a bit under power, or is it actually stepping way out?
R888's and RA1's are no grippier than RS3's, and R888's heat cycle out WAY faster (typically long before the tread is gone).
If you want a fast R compound with tread, get the Hankook TD's.

Never used the Hankooks so once these R888s are done maybe I'll give them a try for this winter. (car goes to FL for the winter HPDE/vacation season).
