Thst sucks, man, but don't forget that the salespeople only really represent the dealership, and that while the dealership does "represent" the manufacture, we know that isn't really the case.
Having said that, I think the problem with Subaru's recent explosive sales growth in the past few years (and resulting lack of inventory) is that many sales people aren't worried about turning a customer away because they know there are 10 more lined up ready to buy it.
When I bought my Series.Blue, I first tried the local dealership where I lived, and the sales person was pretty much an arrogant asshole. Then someone on this very forum recommended a different dealership on the other side of Chicago, and I had a fantastic experience there and they went above and beyond to get me taken care of.
