I'd say go for it. As mentioned above, take it to a reputable wheel shop for inspection/repair.

Years ago I dented a forged Billet Specialties 20x8 wheel bad enough to loose all tire pressure. Put on my spare then took it to a local wheel shop for repair. Billet wanted $300 to re-barrel the wheel, plus tack on shipping. Got it done for less than $100 at the wheel shop and within a week or so I got the wheel back ready to install.
