It would be approximately 18 gauge. It's 0.050" 6061-T6 sheet. It's strong enough, but certainly won't withstand an impact. I bought it and used this size because I wanted to be able to radius my diffuser (it's rolled, but hard to tell that with the pictures I provided) as opposed to just using a brake and putting hard bends in the material.

If you're going with a flat plate I'd go with something closer to 14 gauge for the body, and the strakes can be whatever. Mine is also welded all up (necessary because of the radius: the welds hold the shape of the entire piece), but if you're going with flat plate I'd rivet everything in so if you bend a strake you can just pop the rivets off and throw a new one in.
