Makes my blood boil.

There are exceptions to leaving a pet in the car, though. I'm not sure about other makes, but the Toyota Smart Entry/Smart Start system like on a 10 Series allows the driver to exit the car with everything running and then lock the doors with the metal key embedded in the fob.

I've done it on a Prius. When I came out of the store, some woman was ready to break out a window to "save" my dog that she thought was in distress. He was just excited to have someone talking to him through the closed window. I understood her confusion, it was a hot day and the car was silent with it's electrically driven HVAC system. I thanked her for watching out for situations like that after she dropped the rock.
