I knew a few guys back in my minitruck days that shaved the wipers, and the cowl. A few removed the wipers, and just put caps on the stems. A friend of mine shaved the LH wiper, and reworked the linkage so the RH wiper would park on the drivers side, ie a single center mount wiper for the entire wind screen.
...that was back when custom didn't come in a box
