As long as nobody picks it up it should be sent back. You may be able to get in touch with Canada Post beforehand to inform them.
I don't know either of you, but you can't expect him to not mention it in public after not receiving a reply for awhile. It's sort of your responsibility to get in touch with him somehow if your phone gets busted after telling him to contact you that way while you're up north.
The way I see it, he should've been more careful but he is absolutely not in the wrong for bringing it up on your post.
Just make sure to call them up after the failed delivery and refuse the package. Chalk this one up as a misunderstanding and everyone can just enjoy life :P.
