So, I installed the Toyota FIT camera in my 10 series FR-S this weekend. I have the Bespoke unit with NAV. Everything went pretty smooth. I installed the jumper wire from the reverse signal at the driver's foot-well to pin two on the 28 pin harness. The 16 pin harness that comes with the kit is used for the video signal and ground, as well as the camera power and ground. The kit comes with the 16 pin pass-through harness and already has the video wires connected to pins 8 and 16. However, they suggest that you use a 12 volt source to power the camera. I noticed that the camera had a voltage choke/regulator on the line, and I suspected that it was to reduce the voltage down to 6 volt.
So I tested the camera with a 6 volt source and it worked perfectly. So, I then utilized the 6 volt power and ground on the 16 pin harness (pins 7 and 15). Made the install a lot easier!
The testing was a little tricky since the HU checks for a video signal on startup, and if it doesn't find one, it disables the 6 volt output and the camera function. Once I had everything hooked up, it worked perfectly. I was initially stumped because I new I had a 12 volt signal on the reverse wire trigger, but I couldn't figure out why the head unit wouldn't switch to the camera input when I put the tranny in reverse.

Anyway, I was wondering, for those that have installed cameras..........where did you run your wiring from the rear trim piece through the trunk lid to get down to the factory wiring grommet at the hinge? My 10 series has the trunk badge wiring and the touch-to-open button all running through a separate hole in the trunk lid, and the keyed release has it's own hole on the right. I mounted my camera on the left side to mirror the location of the keyed release on the right.

I ended up using the supplied hole saw to drill a new hole through the trunk lid as well as the hole for the camera location. I couldn't see any other way to run the wiring through the trunk lid.
This then created the problem of how to seal that wiring connection through the new trunk lid hole, and to keep the wires from chafing on the metal. I improvised and found a rubber cap in my pile of left over parts from other projects that was just larger than the hole. ran my wire through the cap, and then pressure-fit the cap in the hole and sealed it up with some silicon adhesive caulk to seal it up.

By the way, it was a SOB to fish all that wiring through the factory rubber grommet near the trunk hinge. There are a couple connectors on the camera harness, including the voltage regulator that are rather large in diameter and they were a tight fit. I used some WD-40 to aid in pulling them through the grommet.

Also, the FIT camera has the Parking Lines and Reverse Image wires labeled near the camera end of the harness. I simply connected the green (parking lines) wires together to disable the parking lines from showing up on your screen.
