Has anyone tried coupling the vibrations from the sound tube to (for instance) the dead pedal or steering wheel ? The idea is that you don't have noise from the hole but you get the tactile feel to keep you in tune with the car.
I tried sealing a length of plastic tube in the hole and touching the end here and there but couldn't feel a thing.
I tried tapping on the dead pedal with a screwdriver and can feel that through my shoe. I tried tapping on the steering wheel itself and also the steel of the steering column but got hardly anything via the fingers.
I think the idea has merit in theory but any ideas to make it truly effective?

Also, when I peer into the hole I see yellow foam. Is that normal or something I shoved in to change the tone and have forgotten about?
