Realistically speaking, very few ideas are original. The Simpsons have already done it all.
There was a really good writeup on Reddit a while back speculating that the Hive is a race of parasitic worms. If you haven't read it, here's the link:

So I'm thinking that Hive is closer to Flood. Taken seem to be possessed but keep their (mostly?) original form if the concept art is anything to go by.
Either way I'm all aboard this hype train, but I'm staying skeptical about everything until it's officially announced.
