Here's a photo comparison between stock and HKS; you can see it eliminates the sound dampening chambers and opens the mouth of the inlet up considerably:

My car was never on the dyno so I cannot say definitively if any improvement was made. I paired this mod with the sound generator delete and retained the stock airbox. I planned to supercharge the car which would've replaced the airbox with a Vortech specific airbox and filter.
