The additional power will come from a header and a tune. Do the header for power, do the rest of the exhaust for sound. A UEL header will have more rumble to it, but there are a lot of threads on UEL vs. EL headers. Also, it will make your exhaust much louder. You might find that the N1 becomes too loud once you add a header.

You also need to remember CARB and emissions inspections as well. The OEM header has a catalytic converter in it, and I don't know of any aftermarket headers that are CARB-compliant.
