About the throttle delay thing ... is your car an auto? If so, getting into the habit of dropping down a gear with the paddle fixes.

I do not miss the key now. Press and hold the brake and THEN just "touch" the button but do not keep the button pressed. Keep the brake pushed until it starts. It may even start then stop but as long as you keep the brake pressed it keeps starting. It took me ages to get the hang.
