I find a lot* of those people that you see advertising their car on these types of meets/events use it as a way to show off their social status.
It's the only place where they can appear to be superior to the next human being. It's that guy who's Facebook display pic and cover page are his car, and the last 75 pictures are the same car, different angle. The same guy who has an Instagram account with the car in his name, over 90% of the pics are of their car only, or parts acquired, often citing how expensive their part is, etc. etc. It's the same guy who probably does really dangerous street pulls, video tapes public drift sessions, and has never been to a track in their life.
