I believe that 18's are a fair compromise for everyone as it doesn't hurt performance (although it isn't optimal) and it doesn't hurt the design of the wheel.
I think 18's will be fine for the street. Not everybody is going to track this car.

Yes.. barely.. but with 235 width tires instead of 215.. not exactly a fair comparison if your interest is solely comparing wheel diameter. Bigger wheels can be faster within reason but we aren't talking much sidewall height already here...
