Edit: On studying the mechanism more closely, I've realized my above statement is incorrect. It is impossible to adjust the clutch pedal so low the assist spring interferes with pedal return. Then the most important step is to swap out the slave cylinder. Best 40 bucks you could spend. Save the old one in case you absolutely hate it but I doubt it. Makes the clutch as nice and crisp as the rest of the car.

BTW, props to @Andrew025 for convincing me to yank the spring. I came to understand the mechanism a little bass ackwards but got there nonetheless.
