I think the trunk sealing rubber just compresses down a little with age and then the trunk will close easily.
This is common on any new car.

If it's being forced closed so much the rubber collapses, then yes. The rubbery parts will last much longer if they aren't mashed down. The latch also sees less force/drag when it is opened.
The trunk lid on my wife's 03 Camry is the same as it was when new.
Granted, there's probably a wide zone of "good enough" but if you have to slam it then, yeah, it's probably too tight.
