I guess he means theres nothing to hit when you slide out of control.
/shrug, an wide open parking lot pretty much does the same thing.
I'd say drift on ice/rain to do less damage to your actual drivetrain.
It could have been faster to just grip all the way, but this wasn't show drifting. It was just a speed drift. Minor oversteer to whip around the cone.
