I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this, but since it could affect all of us in America and specifically has to do with us working on our own BRZ's and FRS's.. I'm putting it here. If I'm wrong MODS can feel free to move it.

In summary, because of the Digital Millennium Copyrights Act passed in 1998, "...every 3 years the Copyright Office holds hearings to determine whether exemptions are warranty as technology advances."
Because all of our cars are now running on multiple ECU's and aren't mechanical devices anymore, companies like GM and John Deere think that "...they don't actually buy a car, but they merely buy a license to use the car for the duration of its life"... This statement by itself makes me despise GM and John Deere. Anyway, they are worried that "...unauthorized modifications could lead to malfunctions and car accidents."
Not only would this affect people working on their own cars, but they could also determine WHO works on your car, so you not only lose your right to work on your own car, but you lose the right to determine who you want to work on your car...
At the end of the article a guy named Drayton Green summed up his thoughts and said, "This has to be one of the dumbest things I've heard," he wrote to the Copyright Office. "I can't believe this is even a discussion. If I purchase a car, I own it. The freedom to do whatever I want to it is provided by my constitutional rights. Simple as that." I agree with this guy completely!!
I encourage everyone to read it in case you need to speak your voice later down the road.. I had no idea this was even going on until this morning.
