They care when they try to trade in the car and get a lowball trade value from the dealer. Then they get all butt-hurt about that and list it on Craigslist or in the classified section of this board with comments like, "I know what it's worth so don't waste my time with lowball offers." Then they don't understand why they can't sell the car.
