cjd: there is big difference between device, that acts as on/off switch, and device that might fine tune small parameters of work of those aids, like ignition switch vs OFT. While OFT guys made obd gadget to simplify engage of pedal-dance mode, is nothing like fine tune. Just simplifying switching on already pre-existing mode.
You guys try to imagine possibilities of such tuning: as this car is drive by wire, for example you can individually set some 'tables' for how each wheel brake individually at which maneouver according to steering wheel position/accelerometers readings operates by calculating what it should do every few milliseconds? Imho it's a bit unfair, but nevertheless POWER like that of tein EDFC active suspension. And all of that using preinstalled hardware, just with different firmware/tune.
Second use in my eyes might be few of the shelf tunes gradually upping limits for VSC, so that depending on driver evolution/skill growth he'll be able to drive more and more near limits with only very biggest mistakes fixed, which would usually result in complete spinout / loss of control. As skills go up, limits can be rised via next level tune. Instead of what we get now - too early/too much interruption (VSC) or completely off. No steps in between. Either no interruptions and you are on your own, hopefully learning faster then trashing still new and expensive car, or not learning at all, as VSC will correct sooner then even 5/10 of limits. (i'm speaking of oversteer driving and learning required skills/instincts for that, not grip driving, if someone will try to correct me that even with VSC ON it's possible to drive very fast in 2nd case).
