Too many people expect this car to be like a Genesis Coupe or Mustang or GTI, when it's more like an S2000 or Elise. It's low, light, stiff, and un-refined. You hear and feel a lot of *things* with this car - road noise, crickets, etc. But that's what allows feedback to come through the chassis. Like the Elise and S2000, these cars also require you to wind out the tach and downshift (multiple) gears to make any power. But that's part of the fun of driving these cars hard.
The Twins realistically should have sold in numbers similar to the S2000, but they sold a lot more than that. I think they were marketed as being a bit more mainstream than they really are, hence complaints from owners expecting more refinement or torque. You don't find Jeep wrangler owners complaining about rattles or Lotus owners complaining about road noise. Buyers of those cars know what to expect. But an edgy sports car from Scion/Subaru probably caught some buyers off guard.
I think this thread is great in that it helps potential buyers get a better sense of what to expect.
