I bought mine at 1800 miles so, broken-in. Within a month of owning it, while backing out of my spot after lunch, this mid 90s white sedan comes flying past me with a guy running behind him yelling "That's my car! That's my car!"
I yelled at him "Get in the car, NOW!"
He looked at me completely confused.
"NOW, before he gets away!"
He jumps in, I nail it, and tell him to call 911. I caught up to the guy along a mile of 3-lane, thin traffic and rode his ass through the burbs while the owner called off the streets. Until I stopped, the dispatcher refused to confirm whether or not the cops would continue.
Cops pull up close to me the opposite direction while I was parked. Driver-to-driver, he looks over my car and asks what happened. He started to frown when I told him about the dispatcher and hung his head when I told him it wasn't my first rodeo. Genuinely disappointed, he said, "Yeah, they're supposed to do that. Damn."
I never found out what happened and I'm still conflicted about having stopped. Technically, I had no business going all auto-x mode but I felt a little naive after seeing the cop's reaction.
