Here's the thing about these kinds of tickets.. In all my experiences in several states, all you have to do is fix the issue and they will drop the ticket. Tint too dark? No front plate? Wrong lights? Fix it, take a picture, bring it to court, you're off. I have never not been given that option by the cop at the time of the ticket.

The last time it happened I was on my CBR and was ticketed for having insufficient reflectors, among a couple other things. My reflectors were on the back of the license plate screws, but apparently you have to have these atrocious things sticking out on both sides with big reflectors at the end. I didn't even screw them on.. I just rested them in place long enough to take the picture.

Or you can just pay the 40-100 dollars if missing work is more expensive, I don't think you even get points for these things. Years ago one of my friends got regular tickets for his tint and just sent them a check every time.

If I get pulled over more than once for the plate, I'll put a front one on just to avoid the hassle, but I'm going on 3 years without one and it's never been brought up even when I did get pulled over.

Another fun fact about Texas, you can get two speeding tickets a year without anything going on your record or any points. They also have a tendency to lose tickets, I've had 2 in the last 3 years that they wouldn't let me pay. The first one they actually mailed the check back to my old place in Virgina, the second one they said they couldn't find it and wanted me to bring it in so they could "stamp it". I just laughed and was like ok, and then never gave it another thought.
