They want nothing to do with you if you're not interested in buying what's on the lot, they're a Toyota dealer, not a Porsche dealer. I went through dozens of dealerships and nobody was willing to sell me the car I wanted, they all 'needed' leather seats and navigation and clear bra and trunk mats and upgraded headunits.
I even put down a deposit, explicitly saying no upgrades, bone stock, they agreed. Lo and behold it comes in several hundred dollars more expensive and when I ask why they added the headunit and wheel locks. So pissed off, got my deposit back will never set foot on that dealership lot again, nearly didn't buy the car at all. Those four weeks wasted cost me $800 as by the time I found someone willing to sell me what I wanted the price increased by $300 and the student discount decreased by $500.
Sorry, I go on this tirade about once every two or three months, fuck dealerships, let them all burn. No reason why buying a car should be any more complicated than buying a phone or television. Hell you can custom order a phone and have it on your doorstep within two weeks exactly the way you want it, different backing, different wallpaper, custom startup message, with no bullshit.
