I think they could have done the following:
1) Utilize more aluminum in the suspension (control arms, etc)
2) Single-sided exhaust
3) Manual windows, mirrors & locks option
4) Aluminum trunk
5) Lighter wheels
Of course, all of this would put the car up into the $30K range then you guys would be bitching that it's too expensive.
