I plan on doing the same as the guy in the attached thread. He seemed successful and it cost about $50 to order the paint I need. If you are at all inclined it should work fine being so low.

This works very well, I did something similar to the exact same damage seen and the repair is holding up great. Blending it properly takes patience and in my case wetsanding/lots of polishing
