Question FUJITSU HEAD UNIT SD CARD

I've seen other people with a similar problem posting on some forums, but no definitive solution was given... so let me try again:
I bought a used BRZ 2014 Ltd, and had it shipped outside the US (to El Salvador). The HU (Fujitsu FA632US) did not include the SD card that holds the nav maps. I did not consider this an issue since I'm not planning to use the NAV feature anyways (Subaru has no maps available for this region). But to my surprise, the HU will not even load up without the SD card (The battery was disconnected during shipping). All I get is a black screen and this: “Program loading necessary. Please insert SD card”.
I’ve been to the local Subaru dealer to no avail; they are not used to see this type of HU. SoA tech support said I need to purchase a new card from a US Subaru dealer… but the idea of buying a $200-$300 SD card with maps I will never use seems a bit dumb. Has anyone figured out a way to make an image copy of the SD card? I’ve read that the card is copy protected. Other people have tried to copy the files to a blank SD card, but the HU would not read the maps from this copy. But I’m thinking that maybe if someone is willing to send me the files, it wouldn’t hurt to try and see if the HU is able to read the loading software from the copy. There must be a way to fool the HU, any ideas?

Now this is more of a rant... , but I wonder why would Subaru/Fujitsu design the HU in such a way that it will not work properly without the card. It makes sense to have a removable device to hold the map info (so it can be updated)... but why also include in it the software the HU needs to start up???

NOTE: The blue card on the pic below is just a blank
