I've been experimenting with different brands, sizes, and pressures for the past couple years - it's ongoing.
I run a little less pressure in rear - between 1/2lb to 1lb. That has helped with the understeer you're talking about. It feels more precise and predictable - you'll have to experiment on stock tires.
Right now I'm running 245 RS-3's on 17's with 33lb front and 32lb or 32.5lb in back.
If I'm going for a long spirited drive, I'll lower the pressure to 31 or 32 and rears a little less as well.
