Age range really doesn't really play into. I will admit I enjoyed moving up to having 6 speeds from 5 as much as I enjoyed moving from 4 to 5 and 3 to 4 so that does refresh the experience a bit every decade or so!
Not to mention this whole locating the shift on the floor thing!
