For sure, I don't know enough about external/internal compression PD blowers to speak about them.. from a systems efficiency standpoint, scavenging the exhaust gasses to drive the turbine is an improvement over every supercharger type, from good ol roots to centri.. the nature of the beast.
Turbo definitely has more to the setup ($$$

), from boost control to piping.. but there's where the dynamic advantages come into play for the turbo, which can effectively be tuned to have the 'best of both worlds' so to speak.. N/A power while below positive boost, and when you give the engine some g/revs you have power on tap. A good, fast spooling snail (like a 3071 w/ .63a/r) can spool into full boost with surprising speed... and carry it to redline.
I would like to see some hard pact data on catastrophic failures of supercharged and turbocharged engines of the same efficiency.. would be interesting to compare
Then again, I swore never to ride in my friend's redneck FR whipple 5.0 stang again (crazy fast with a crazy driver)... what a beast. Supercharged or turbocharged, man I'm all for it.
