Of course that's the case, you took a $25k performance car and stuck $5k worth of cosmetic crap on it and compared it to a $30k performance car.
The least you can do is use the $5k difference to make it faster but if that's what the conversation devolves into then neither car wins the "How fast can you go for $30k while still driving it to work" competition.
