The harness allowed for a 100% plug and play install. Could I have pieced together a homemade harness with the correct wiring and relay? Yes, but I felt that the pre-made harness was well worth it. The harness allowed for easy integration of the backup camera to the head unit with minimal headaches and complications.
I was originally going to purchase the harness from
http://ae64.com/Products.htm but I found that the link I posted earlier was cheaper and had everything I needed. I did not have to purchase the Reverse Trigger Wire and everything functions properly.
