You're going to have to put money into the car before you can start to get sponsors. You're going to have to be able to win shows and races. Show them what your car is capable of. Your plans for the car.

Most companies will need a proposal of some type, so present your build like a resume. Keep in mind all companies will ask you to do things, so make sure you're up for it. Some will ask you to attend a certain amount of shows and send quarterly updated high res pictures of the build.

Almost all will ask if you are being featured in a magazine any time soon.

Also, if you're not a shop or race team, forget about getting anything for free. They'll give you a discount though.. Just depends on what level of sponsorship they think you would fall into.
