OEM are "splash guards", right? Little cutesy ones? I say go Rally Armor or go home! Those stick out to the sides and really protect the sides of your car, and the expensive ones are super thick and durable. In a pinch they also double as curb feelers.
I've used RA ones on my WRX for the past 8 years. Still look great. Of course EVERY Subaru seems to have them. They're rally-sporty, but not sportscar sporty. Of course you can just run them in the winter if you want.
