Almost everyone wants to personalize at least a little bit so their car is unique to them. Even if it's just tinted windows or an armrest, you still felt like something was missing, and it's still modded imho.

I absolutely love the car, wouldn't trade it for anything, but I felt like it needed a few things. The silver interior trim, particularly around the gps, are hideous imo. Well worth a couple hundred bucks to swap it all out with black and a matching arm rest. The speakers are weak, it could use a little power, and I don't like the glaring orange side markers on an otherwise white, black, and red color scheme.

I'm putting about 2k into to it to change it from a great car to my perfect car, and I'm going to dd it for a good 5 years at least. I'm keeping it clean and don't anticipate any trouble selling it. Will I recoup my 2k+? Don't really care. Most of the things I buy are electronics that depreciate in 5 years anyway. I don't see much difference between a 600 dollar playstation and a 600 dollar header.

That said, I had a bone stock mustang, RX-8, and wrangler and barely gave mods a thought. Different situation, different finances, different goals. Before I just wanted something nice to drive, now I want my dream car. To each their own.

Edit: I should mention, When I took my Wrangler with a burn hole, tree branch scratches down the sides, and a cracked windshield to carmax, they told me it was the cleanest Jeep they'd ever seen and offered me blue book value for excellent condition. I'm pretty sure it's because it was bone stock... so there's that.

I don't really consider tint and an armrest a "mod"....those are dealer upgrades. We just have different definitions of a mod. By your definition, adding an air freshener would be a mod.
