I'd block off part of your radiator during cold/street driving. Cylinder wear increases exponentially with lower temps. That's why it's best to get the engine up to temp by driving with low throttle and low rpms vs idling up to temp.
The lower temp thermostat thing is a relic of the old muscle cars. Modern cars run much higher temp thermostats because we can effectively control the heat, and combustion is more efficient at higher temps.

It's a bit archaic (cardboard + spray paint + zip ties) but it's effective and takes all of a minute to install and remove.
