We don't have those intersections in Europe. We have roundabouts. There are rules there too, and they don't apply in real life either. The most effective way to traverse an european roundabout is to look as you are oblivious of your surroundings and just plow straight into it.
We are getting more roundabouts all the time here.
And if you think people are confused by 4way stops well...
