After a year of going FI with the PTuning turbo kit, I think it's time for a recap!

Total mileage: 26k on the chassis, 11k with turbo kit
Car usage: partial duty commuter + weekend track monster
Relevant mods:
  • Flex fuel, 95% of the time on pure E85
  • Exedy Stage 2 clutch - Stage 1 slips after ~320 lb-ft
  • Setrab Series 9, 25 row oil cooler
  • Koyo radiator
  • Toan tune
  • JDL UEL header

Boost level: daily 9.5 psi (~350 whp), fun 14.5 psi (~450 whp), track 7 psi (wastegate ~300 whp)
Number of track days: 12 - Ambient temps ranging from 70s to 105s, usually on pure E85 or mixed down to E50 at minimum

General Issues Experienced (not necessarily specific to the kit):
  • Nut holding header to turbo overpipe came loose at the track after 5 months
  • Front right anti-sway bar bushing started to melt from the turbo heat at extreme track temperatures
  • Blown coil packs #1 and #2 due to track heat
  • Extreme oil temps solved by adding oil cooler (have not tested PTuning oil cooler)
  • After a year, brass T fitting for the oil supply and oil pressure switch showed signs of leakage. Needed to remove and reapply thread sealant/teflon tape.
  • Disappearing water from cooling system - pressure tested ok, not fixed yet

Overall, I'm still very happy with the kit. It's been dead reliable, especially pushing the car to its limits in extreme conditions at the track. This setup absolutely terrorizes other cars at the track. They never expect this kind of speed coming from our cars. Most of the issues I've seen have been heat related, and they only surfaced during the hottest of track days before I had the massive oil cooler. I can imagine front-mount turbos to have 5x more problems with heat. Well-thought-out design, @ptuning @Mrc@ptuning
@sw20kosh has been there with me at almost all the track days. He can attest to the robustness of the kit, as he's been putting it through the same torture test with similar results.
