I agree with you. In fact, I'd be on board if their 2nd gen 86/GT86/FR-S/BRZ gives you a coupe (what we have today) and hatchback/liftback option. It gives a nod to the Trueno and Levin AE86. Adding the hatchback/liftback doesn't even put the vehicle back into the drawing board. Engineering-wise, the technology to make it viable has been around for a long time. The biggest change would probably be at the production plant as they'd have to either add an additional team for the hatch/liftgate portion or train the current team in that section to be able to adapt going back and forth.
