Also, not sure if it matters for this purpose, but it gets driven all year and is running snow tires currently. I have a few questions regarding this kit as it seems to be very nice quality.

- I like the idea of making around 250rwhp for purpose of reliability and keeping the stock clutch. I also feel this is ideal for the chassis. Is this kit overkill for me or can I get a setup (perhaps base turbo?) that will fit that mold?

The base turbo will do 250whp @ ~5psi. Stock clutch should be fine at that level for a long time.

- In the idea of keeping it a nice daily driver, I was thinking of JDL catted front pipe and overpipe along with the Invidia Q300 cat back. Would that be a good way to go?

I've done 450whp on my personal car with a 2.5" overpipe, 2.5" catted FP and 2.5" catback. We've had cars do 290-300whp with the base kit @8-9psi and stock exhaust so you definitely can still make nice power and keep the car very quiet.

- Does JDL offer an oil cooler option? I've heard this is required for FI on these cars. If not, is there one that is preferred to go with the JDL kit?

We can and have done quite a few of them. Haven't had the time to market a universal one yet, but can provide one to work with our kit if requested.

- I will not be installing this myself, about how many hours would a shop typically charge to install this? For all parts; turbo kit, exhaust, cooler, gauges, tune and install I'd like to stay under $7k. Hopefully that is realistic.

Obviously this will vary from shop to shop. I would say the 2 most time consuming parts are trimming the core support for the intercooler and welding the bung on the oil pan. Typically it takes us a solid 8 hour day to install a kit and flash tune on a relatively stock car. We will have a "Long route" Intercooler option done in the next 2 weeks (FINALLY!!) that will not require any trimming of the bumper beam, however comes at the expense of much longer piping. We also have a core exchange program for pre-welded oil pans.

- Is the standard a-pillar pod with boost and afr (and maybe oil temp?) the most popular choice for the 86? Or are there some other clever mounting options?

We usually use a P3cars gauge on every install we do. Very discreet and looks OEM...Hard to beat.

Thank you very much!

Bill,

Hope that answered everything. Let me know if you need more info.
