I bought my FRS in November, and here in MD, we start getting Wintery weather shortly after. The Primacy HDs, IMO, leave a lot to be desired when driving in cold and/or wet, and/or snow. Enter Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3's. These tires out-perform the HP's on absolutely every front, very substantially, and I believe they cost less than the HP's. The Michelin's grip is way beyond the HP's, and they are barely affected by wet conditions. In snow, they are way better than the HPs - no comparison - but still, they are A/S's, not to be compared with dedicated snows. On the down side, given what I've learned here, some Michelin PS A/S 3 owners are not getting near 45k mileage on them. I need to see what I get out of them.

So, IMO the Michelin's are so superior, they might be the best first choice for any FRS owner, regardless of where they live.
Very useful post. I drive on similar roads and agree wholeheartedly. I'd only add that I gained respect for the OEMs when I took the car to the track, where it is a true pleasure to drive (dry weather, outside temp = 55-60F). Super grip? Nope, but really easy to place the car with those tires.

Since I drive the car on open roads 99% of the time, sliding performance is not what I need. Good grip, including on wet and/or cold roads, is. Right now, if it rains or gets too cold, the car stays in the garage. The PS A/S 3 is what I am looking forward to replace the OEMs with.
