That reading isn't completely fair though. I had just swapped out the stock battery for an Optima red top, resetting the computer. Then I went to visit my Mother in Bellvue WA, which was about three hours of highway driving and maybe one hour noodling around town to breakfast. When I got back that was the reading on my dash. That was with 90 octane NO ethanol. Currently I'm averaging about 26.5mpg.

This makes me feel much better. Because my average has rested aroud 30.3 for about a month now. And most of my commute is highway.
On the other hand, if you drove an manual as well, it would have been cool to ask you to show me your magical powers.
