I am not looking for the mythical unicorn of car reliability. I know forums are the hot bed of all the problems. Where else can people go?

That being said theres a difference between a reliability issue and a flat out design flaw. And from the thread the Cam CEL almost seems like a design flaw as there are many here with different mileages even left bone stock that have it. Several way out of warranty with huge repair bills. And seems you have to replace engine internals to fix which is quite a bit more in depth than a leaky taillight or bad wheel bearing.

I love the BRZ, and I am still excited at the prospect of getting one but I dont want to spend 27K on a headache either.

I am looking at it for my DD to replace something that isn't working in that role. But I dont want to buy a new car and then just have a headache. Which is what I am trying to gauge.

Would be nice if someone who had the issue would chime in on their thoughts.
