1) some have said they no longer use the AC to reduce stress on the belt. Is this overkill? I live in the PNW and the air is always wet, I am always using the defroster with the AC. Thoughts?
2) some have mentioned this belt also will struggle under regular downshifting. I am a daily driver, no track. Should I start learning how to de-celerate with no downshifting and just invest in extra brake pads? Thoughts?
Hi
It is completely dependent on your driving habits...
Off course you can down shift and use your AC and if you drive like a normal person the belt could last as long as the original one (without the stress of the blower)... BUT you have to understand that the belt was design for certain amount of power, and the belt (black or blue) could move the blower with ANY pulley. In my case everything was and is aligned (SC, belt, pulleys) but if I try to use my car as I fly my motocross bikes I have change belts 3 to 4 times per oil change (3k miles), and I believe that's not so bad, if I went the turbo way and drive like I run out of medications maybe the engine and/or the trany were the things braking.

So it is a good idea to have an additional belt and some basic tools on the trunk, it doesn't hurt and could be change in 15 min without removing the sc.

Enjoy
