Yeah I don't think the jury is out on that one. I've read both, but no actual data has been shown one way or another. To me it makes sense that it would increase thread life due to the cooling properties of sipping. Think of the grooves in terms of a heat sink.
Guess I'll have to sipe two tires and not sipe the other two and get some actual data on this
