Any reason in particular for wanting longer gears? You can pm me if you want.

It's not like it ruins the car. Alot of people on this forum this changing final drives increases or decreases horsepower, which is retarded.
Remember
1UZ has more than twice the torque of fa20, everywhere, including off idle.
It's usually found in cars 500kg heavier.
It won't need a typical 1st gear, one so tall that it's almost like a short second, won't bother the motor at all.
I also don't want the car to be screaming at 100km/h.
My current daily is a Audi S4. same size motor, car much heavier than gt86. At 100km/h, top gear revs 1750rpm. It holds it nicely and cruises. If I force it into 5th at the same speed, its more like 2400-2500. Its much nicer at the lower revs. So that gives me a target.
A 3.727 FD (which I have) puts my 100km/h top gear cruise at 2500rpm, which is too high.
A 3.266 FD puts my cruise at the same point more around 2150rpm.
BUT, I also don't want to move all the gearing just to drop ~300rpm at 100km/h, if it makes the car sluggish (which I still dont think it will)
I think the difference between the 3.266 and 3.727 for a V8 conversion, is like comparing a 4.1 and 4.5 with an fa20. I had my 4.5 in for a year, and yes it did rev too high at 100km/h but it was better everywhere else so I enjoyed it.
Ultimately, its another one of those things that you can sit and obsess over, but you need to try it and see how it feels .
So I'm going to try the 3.727 first, and know that there are 3.266 options out there.
