You can do what I'm saying in English or metric units. L/100km or gal/100mi. Volume/distance is the key point. I can't tell you how many people say they went with x car over y car because it got 39mpg versus 37mpg. The fuel cost difference at that point is negligible. 14 versus 16 is sizable.
