They're designed for competition of course and they will probably have the typical Hoosier life span: Good for 3-12 sessions (depending on car) and then 1-2 seconds slower after that.

Unless you're competing in a class where that's the 'tire to have', I would say that it is not the tire to have.

If you're just lapping, your money will go further with something else.
